This article is dedicated to all of you out in cyber land that have decided to take the leap of faith and try your hand at writing a blog. Many of my readers have asked me what the secret is to my writing, and how they too can become a creative writer like me. That phrase, “creative writer”, absolutely blows my mind when it is used to describe how I am perceived, and quite literally humbles me beyond belief. For a “Guy” like me, who is never short for words, I do not know what to say other than, Thank You! However, I will do my level best at imparting what I feel may help you to attain that with which you seek; Story Telling!
To be a creative writer, that is all you are really doing; telling a story. There are mountains of subjects any of you can tackle using topics that are a part of daily living. Many of my best ideas come from things that happen to me throughout my day. Just yesterday, I told a story about having lunch with a friend who chose to eat fast food instead of making a healthier choice. I used this seemingly obscure happening to spring board into an article about health and wellness. This leads to my first suggestion how you can ward off writers block when writing your article content.
Ideas may come any moment through an occurrence in your day, a chance conversation with a stranger, or while you are sitting in traffic on your way home from work. It is surprising how a simple idea or situation can start an avalanche of ideas from within you, providing you remember them. Have you ever had a moment where a flash of brilliance comes to you? Only to get home an hour later and the only thing you can remember about your idea, was that you had had a good idea, but cannot remember what it was? Let’s be honest, it has happened to us all. When I finally committed to writing these ideas down on paper, the instant they came to me, was when the creative writer in me blossomed. If you want to be a serious writer, then this is something you have to get in the habit of doing.
Good habits will help you elevate your creative writer skills, and will prevent you from taking yourself too seriously. What I mean by that statement is a very simple concept, yet necessary to keep you in good flow and form. Try lowering your expectations into the realm of the ridiculous where it would be grade school easy to accomplish your goal. You’re probably thinking: this “Guy” is nuts! But, believe me it works. Try being a kid again, and have fun writing your article content. Establish a bridge into that world of the not so long ago, where that imaginative child can take you on an amazing adventure, and you will be shocked how this will help you!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I have heard it said: God is happiest when his children are at play, and I could not agree more. Starting new and healthy habits means letting go of the adult things you have conditioned your mind to believe, and that are a road block to the creative writer from within. The easiest way of severing those old habits, is by letting your hair down and inviting that kid to be a part of your life again. Those days were not all that long ago for any of us, and it’s not hard to remember how the world looked through those young eyes. How many stories could you write seeing everything with that same expectation of the adventures that awaited you in your back yard? Tons!
Bottom line, the only difference between what you desire, and the creative writer from within me, are our skill sets; that’s it, nothing more, that’s my secret!
As always, it has been an awesome pleasure bringing you my latest creation; How You Can Bring Out The Creative Writer From Within. This article seems like such a paltry offering to all those who have given me so much with your kind words. The only way I can compensate your generosity is to keep the content coming. Thank you for charging my literary battery every day, I could not do it without your support!
